Remuneration for provided legal services is usually specified by agreement between the solicitor and the client, always with regard to the specific client’s requirements and financial potential, taking into account the value and demands of the case, as well as how time-consuming the required services are and their volume. The price for legal services is arranged in a manner that guarantees the client effective and economic provision of services.
For instance, remuneration may be arranged as
- timed remuneration specified on the basis of the solicitor’s hourly rates, according to how time-consuming the case was;
- fixed remuneration for settlement of the whole matter (for instance, writing up a contract, establishment of a company, etc.) regardless of how time-consuming the case was;
- fixed monthly or quarterly remuneration for regular legal consultancy;
- a share in the results of a dispute;
- remuneration for actions, during which remuneration is based on the price for one legal service action and the number of these actions;
- a combination of the abovementioned methods for specifying remuneration.
On assumption of the case the client receives information concerning the assumed scope of work by the solicitor and the total costs for settling the given matter, including the client’s related additional costs, e.g. in the form of notarial, court or other fees.
